The Matilda Bench takes a classic Voyage Maison silhouette and gives it a wonderfully individual Hazelwood character with the richly decorative Kandesh Small After Eight fabric from Art of the Loom.
With its elegant French-style legs, beautifully detailed wooden frame and generous upholstered seat, Matilda has all the ingredients of a timeless country piece. The addition of this distinctive botanical fabric gives it a much richer and more expressive personality.
Kandesh Small After Eight is set against a deep charcoal-brown ground, with intricate sage and olive foliage, pale floral details, cream and stone accents and muted blue touches. The densely packed botanical pattern has an almost archival, illustrated quality, creating plenty of visual depth across the generously proportioned seat.
The result is a bench that feels collected, characterful and beautifully considered — rather than simply functional.
Matilda is also wonderfully practical. The integrated lower shelf provides useful storage and display space, whether you choose to add woven baskets, books, folded throws or a few favourite decorative pieces.

THE KANDESH SMALL AFTER EIGHT FABRIC
Kandesh Small After Eight is part of the Archive Collection by Art of the Loom, featuring a richly layered botanical design with a distinctive vintage-inspired character.
The pattern brings together curling stems, serrated leaves, stylised flowers, seed heads and ornamental botanical forms. Against the deep charcoal-brown ground, sage and olive greens appear rich and earthy, while cream, stone and muted blue details add subtle contrast.
The closely packed design creates an intricate, decorative surface that works particularly beautifully on statement upholstery such as Matilda.
The fabric is made from 70% Polyester, 15% Wool and 15% Viscose, with a width of 137cm and a 78,000 Martindale rub test. It is suitable for general domestic upholstery as well as curtains and blinds.
The pattern has a 37cm vertical repeat and 69cm horizontal repeat.
